Kertész died in Budapest on 31 March 2016 at the age of 86. Imre Kert'sz's savagely lyrical and suspenseful new novel traces the continuing echoes the Holocaust and communism in the consciousness of contemporary Eastern Europe. Ten years after the fall of communism, a writer named B. commits suicide, devastating his circle and deeply puzzling his friend Kingsbitter. Liquidation, his first novel since winning the Nobel prize in 2002, is basically a fictionalised argument that after Auschwitz, fiction is an untenable pursuit.

Biographie. Imre Kertész wurde am 9. November 1929 in Budapest geboren.

In fact, Kertész had struggled with this same issue through his art, as the main character of his 2003 book Felszámolás (Liquidation) commits suicide after struggling with depression. Kertész died in Budapest on 31 March 2016 at the age of 86.
